Are you thinking about installing Solar Panels at your home?

16/09/2023

Solar panels are an innovative technology that produces clean and renewable energy sustainably. They transform the solar light into electric energy, absorbing this sunlight energy and generating an electric field.

The solar panels are formed by photovoltaic cells, of various measurements of 83x166mm approximately, mostly made of crystalline silicon. All these photovoltaic cells work together and generate an electric field usable in homes thanks to the investor.

But, how do they work?

Depending on how they work, there are two types of solar panels: thermal solar collectors and photovoltaic solar panels.

1. THERMAL SOLAR COLLECTORS

They have an accumulator which moves the heat energy to the water that we want to heat.

2. PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR PANELS

Through the photovoltaic effect, using photovoltaic cells, they leverage the sunlight energy and generate an electric current.

Photovoltaic comes from the word photo. Photons are the particles from the electromagnetic radiation form, for example, the X-rays and visible light. The action of these photons release electrons, which generate positive and negative charges when they move, creating an electric field capable of creating an electric current. Generating positive and negatives charges, and so electricity, is possible thanks to the fact that the photovoltaic cells with the ones are formed are composed of a layer of silicon and phosphorus, which provides the negative charge, and a second layer of boron, which provides the positive charge.

We can divide the photovoltaic solar panels into two groups depending on the type of photovoltaic cells they are formed for; monocrystalline solar panels and polycrystalline.

2.1. Monocrystalline solar panels

In this type of panel, there is a huge waste of silicon and the sheets are made with rounded edges, making high-purity crystals and increasing the performance of each cell.

2.2. Polycrystalline solar panels

In this case, the impure silicon is melted and dumped in a square mould, making all the sheets perfectly squared. The efficiency of this type of panel is minor because it contains impurities.

Application of the solar panels

When we install solar panels they provide electric energy to all the power and lighting receivers, since it is connected to the general distribution panel of the house or the company. With these panels, you can save over 35% of the electricity consumption.

Before their installation, we have to take into account the electricity consumption in our house or Company. In that way, we can dimension the number of solar panels needed, their peak power and the inverter to install, in order to save over 35% of electric energy and taking into account the peak power hired.

We can help you with…

  • Making the descriptive memory of the photovoltaic solar generator installation, for the previous communication of works to the town hall.
  • Modifying the descriptive memory due to the installation of more solar panels or the different orientation from the previous memory.
  • Processing the inscription of the generating installation in the Registry of technical installation and industrial security of Catalonia (RITSIC).
  • Processing the request for the CAU number to the electricity company.
  • Processing the inscription of the self-consumption facility in the Catalan Self-Consumption Register (RAC).
  • Making documentation required by city halls or grants. There are several types of grants, which are classified into the following groups:
    • Grants for the installation of solar panels, such as the incentive program linked to self-consumption and storage, which is requested to the Catalan Energy Institute.
    • Bonus on taxes and deduction of percentages of the tax on real estate that are processed at the town hall of the municipality where the self-consumption solar panels are installed.
    • Personal income tax deduction (IRPF) for the installation of solar panels in Spain, which is requested through the income statement.

From Bertran Enginyeria SLP we advise and assist you in the processing of these grants, as well as the documentation and energy certificates necessaries to be able to process them.
